The Coastal Management Law and related sub-laws and plans have been announced and implemented. Although the government has relevant legal tools, the key to truly protecting and safeguarding the coastal resources and environment must go down to local level, especially getting help of local communities and groups. Therefore, the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior has launched a series of action plans titled See the Coast. It hopes to cooperate and interact with local communities in various forms, and build stronger relationship through further promotion of the project. The first cooperation was made with Yue Ｍing Elementary School that features marine education. A documentary was jointly produced to show how students from this school overcame their fear and determined to take actions to get close to and protect the ocean. What they did inspired their families and motivated local people to safeguard the ocean. This documentary tells how closely students and staff from Yueming Elementary School are connected with ocean. It also aims to inspire viewers to “Make A Difference to Life and Ocean” and gather more momentum from local communities to protect coastlines.
